How we check halal status
Before a restaurant goes live, our team checks what is halal, whether it serves alcohol and whether it has a prayer room. We go by what the restaurant says and what diners report in reviews. We don't inspect kitchens, so if you need certainty, ask the restaurant. Owners can claim their listing and correct these details.
- Restaurant-stated
- The restaurant itself says what is halal: on its menu, website or social media, or to our team.
- Diner reports
- Diners say in reviews what they ate and whether it was halal.
- Certified
- A halal certification body has approved the restaurant. Some listed restaurants may hold a certificate, but we don't record certificates yet, so no listing is marked as certified.
What the listing labels mean
- Halal388 listings
- All the food is halal. Whether it serves alcohol is shown separately.
- Halal friendly3 listings
- Part of the menu is halal. The listing says which meat: chicken, beef or lamb.
- Not confirmed
- If we can't confirm whether a restaurant serves alcohol or has a prayer room, we leave that detail off the listing.
