We chose GIA due to its proximity to the Meervaart theater. It’s quite decorative and open. It was quiet when we went, so for us the service was good. I ordered a mocktail, which was pleasantly tasty and very pretty.
The music, to me, was too loud, and not at all related to the Italian style menu. It was a lot of r&b and rap. After a while it becomes grating.
We ordered appetizers: bruschetta and calamari. The bruschetta was good but I felt it missed something, like the finishing touches. The Rucola was completely dry, and toppings were sparse so while the burrata was very nice, it felt more like a cheese toast than a bruschetta. The calamari was good. We also ordered the lasagne and tortellini with spinach. They were both nice dishes. Neither one was mind blowing, and perhaps the tortellini lacked in flavor.
Overall, it wasn’t amazing but if you’re looking to have dinner before a show, it’s really a fine place. I would try it again, to see how the pizza and desserts are.
